When you visit Makers Nest, we'll ask for your location (or you can enter a postal code). We'll show you verified makers within 50km by default, sorted by distance. You can filter by category, adjust the radius, or search for specific products.
Yes! Every maker on our platform is video-verified as a real artisan. You only see their general neighborhood before purchase — the exact address is shared only after you complete your order. Many pickups are contactless (package left on porch), and you confirm receipt with a QR code.
First, contact the maker directly through our messaging system — most issues can be resolved quickly. If you can't reach a resolution, our support team will step in to help. For porch pickup orders, please check your item before confirming receipt if possible.
Many makers offer both porch pickup and shipping. If a maker offers shipping, you'll see it as an option at checkout. Shipping costs and times vary by maker and are set by them. Porch pickup is always free when available!
After signing up, you'll be asked to submit a 60-second video showing your workspace and demonstrating your craft. This can be shot on your phone — we just need to see you're a real maker. A real human reviews every submission within 2-3 business days.
For porch pickup orders, payment is released after the buyer confirms receipt (via QR code). For shipped orders, payment is released after delivery confirmation. In both cases, funds transfer to your bank within 7 days — never the 45-90 days you'd wait on other platforms.
Porch pickup: $0 commission on ALL tiers — you only pay 2.9% + $0.50 payment processing.
Shipped orders: Founding/Early Makers pay 5%, Basic pays 9%, Pro pays 7%.
Monthly fee: Founding/Early Makers = $0 forever. Basic = $10/month. Pro = $15/month.
Early Makers also get 6 months of FREE Pro features (unlimited listings, custom URL, etc.)!
If a buyer doesn't show up for a scheduled pickup and doesn't respond to messages, you're protected. After a grace period, the order is marked as completed and you receive payment. We don't penalize makers for buyer no-shows.
Yes, we're currently focused on Canadian makers and buyers only. We're starting local to build density and trust in communities across Canada. International expansion may come later, but for now, both makers and buyers need to be in Canada.
Unlike Etsy, we verify every maker with video to keep out dropshippers. We focus on local discovery and porch pickup. Our fees are transparent and much lower (no forced ads!). And we pay makers in 7 days, not 45-90 days. We're built for makers, not shareholders.
